What is a Democracy?

Today, it is rare that I find someone that understands what it means to be a democracy. The government schools have successfully brainwashed the masses into believing the the United States is a democracy.

A true democracy is a government where the people vote on every issue and the will of the majority becomes the law of he land.  In a republican form of government it is the representatives elected by the people that vote in their behalf.

Only in a republic can the individual rights of individuals be protect against the tyranny of the majority. In a republic there can be no laws that violate an individuals right to his life, liberty or property.

The founding fathers realized by having a republican form or government rather than a democracy the rights of the individuals could best be preserved. When a majority has the authority of the state to violate the rights of the minority, the seeds of tyranny are planted.
